Ritual Essential for Women 18+: Nine Nutrients, and the Six You Might Expect That Are Missing

Ritual’s women’s multivitamin is $33 a month on subscription, $37.50 as a one-off plus $10.99 shipping. It contains nine nutrients — deliberately — which makes it a very different product from the thirty-ingredient multivitamins it sits next to on a comparison chart.

• Omega-3 DHA 330 mg — from Schizochytrium microalgae

What is deliberately absent

There is no vitamin C, no B-complex beyond B12, no calcium and no zinc. Ritual’s position is that it includes only nutrients it considers commonly under-consumed, rather than covering the full RDA chart.

Whether that suits you depends on your diet and, ideally, on blood work — which is a conversation for a doctor rather than a product page. But it does mean a straight price-per-nutrient comparison against a conventional multivitamin is not a like-for-like comparison.

It does contain iron

8 mg as ferrous bisglycinate. This is a real difference from Ritual’s men’s formula, which is iron-free, and it matters if you are already taking iron separately or have been advised to avoid it.

On the USP claim

Ritual states the product is USP Verified and describes what USP checked: nutrient levels, availability for absorption, and a review of impurities including heavy metals. We tried to confirm this in USP’s public verified-products database and were blocked by repeated 403 errors.

So: the claim is the manufacturer’s, and we could not independently corroborate it. That is a weaker statement than the NSF listings we were able to verify for other products, and we would rather say so than let it read as confirmed.

Construction and format

A stomach acid-resistant vegan capsule designed to dissolve in the small intestine, scented with mint essential oil. The DHA is algal rather than fish-derived, so the product is vegan. Ritual publishes ingredient suppliers under a “Made Traceable” programme.
