Seed DS-01 Daily Synbiotic: What Is Actually on the Label

Seed’s DS-01 is $49.99 for a 30-day supply, sold only as a monthly subscription. The label is unusually detailed for this category — 24 strains broken into four named blends — and unusually quiet about one thing: it carries no banned-substance or USP certification.

AFU is not CFU

Seed declares potency in Active Fluorescent Units rather than the CFU figure most brands print. The two are not interchangeable and cannot be compared directly against a competitor’s CFU number. If you are shopping on headline count, that is worth knowing before you conclude one product is stronger than another.

The capsule

Seed calls it ViaCap: a vegan outer capsule containing a separate vegan inner capsule. The prebiotic sits in the outer, the probiotic blends in the inner. Both are hypromellose; the outer is coloured with sodium copper chlorophyllin.

Certification status, precisely

Seed’s product page states the product is third-party tested for pesticides and allergens — gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, shellfish, sesame, and glyphosate — and is Prop 65 compliant. It does not name the testing body.

We checked the NSF Certified for Sport database and found no Seed listing. We found no Informed Sport or USP verification either. That is not a safety finding; it means the specific third-party programmes athletes and cautious buyers look for are absent here.

The subscription condition

Seed sells DS-01 as a recurring monthly delivery — “30-day supply delivered monthly, pause or cancel anytime”. We found no one-time purchase price on the manufacturer’s site. Factor that into the comparison against products you can buy once from a shelf.
