Shudder’s annual Premium plan is $99.99 a year, which the service markets as a value of $8.34 a month against $9.99 billed monthly. Whether that saving means anything depends entirely on how narrow you are willing to let your watchlist get.

The billing options
Shudder runs three plans: Monthly with Ads at $7.99, Monthly Premium at $9.99, and Annual Premium at $99.99. The annual plan saves about $20 against paying monthly, and it follows a 7-day free trial.
The $7.99 ad tier carries two restrictions worth knowing before comparing on price alone: it is US-only, and it does not support Xbox. It also excludes download functionality entirely.
Picture quality, honestly
Shudder’s support pages state that most of its content is available in 1080p, and that some older titles are only available at lower resolutions. No 4K tier is documented anywhere on the service.
For a catalogue weighted toward archive and cult horror — much of it shot on film and transferred from older masters — that ceiling matters less than it would on a service built around new releases. If 4K is a requirement, this is not the service.
Downloads and their expiry

The obvious limitation
Shudder is horror, thriller and the supernatural, and nothing else. That is the proposition rather than a flaw — but it makes an annual commitment a different calculation from a general-interest service. A year is a long time to be certain about one genre, and Shudder publishes no concurrent-stream figure, so it is not a subscription that spreads easily across a household with mixed tastes.
Shudder also notes that live TV and some on-demand content may include ads, promos or sponsorships even on the ad-free Premium plans.
