Fenty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation Is Being Retired: What That Means for Buyers
Fenty Beauty announced in July 2026 that it is retiring Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, with 50% off while stocks last. That is why the price you see depends entirely on where you look — and why we are not quoting a single figure.
★ Status as of 26 August 2026
- Being discontinued — retirement announced July 2026
- fentybeauty.com: “From $18.00” (clearance)
- Sephora: $40.00 standard, $38.00 on Auto-Replenish
- 50 shades · 32 ml / 1.08 oz standard size
- Vegan and cruelty-free, per the brand
The discontinuation
Fenty Beauty posted: “As we prepare to retire Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation, we are reflecting on the moments that made it more than a product.” Trade coverage in July 2026 reported 50% off across the brand’s website and global retailers while supplies last. No replacement has been revealed.
If you wear a shade in this line, this is the moment to buy backups or start shade-matching elsewhere — not the moment to read a review that treats it as a permanent staple.
Why the price is all over the place
A clearance and a full-price retail listing exist side by side. The brand’s own site shows from $18.00, Sephora shows $40.00. Neither is wrong; they reflect different stages of a sell-through.
We are deliberately not printing one price for this product. Anything we published would be stale within weeks.
The shade range, which was the point
The line launched in 2017 with 40 shades and was extended to 50 — the launch that is widely credited with resetting expectations for foundation shade ranges across the industry. Shade numbers run across the range from the 100s to the 400s.
That range is the reason its retirement is being discussed at all. A 50-shade foundation leaving the market matters more to more people than a 12-shade one.
Formula facts
- Soft matte finish, buildable medium to full coverage
- 32 ml / 1.08 oz standard size; a 12 ml mini is also sold
- Ingredients begin: water, dimethicone, talc, PEG-10 dimethicone; also isododecane, nylon-12, glycerin, pineapple, papaya and guarana extracts
- Brand states all shades are vegan and Fenty Beauty is 100% cruelty-free
- Published award: 2019 Allure Readers’ Choice Award
- Brand instruction: “always shake before use to activate” — the formula separates on standing
One caution on the listings
Fenty’s own page renders the mini as “12 mL / 0.04 oz”, which is internally inconsistent — 12 ml is closer to 0.4 oz. Treat the ounce figure on the mini as unreliable and go by the millilitres.
