Ember Mug 2: The 80-Minute Battery Is the Whole Decision
The Ember Mug 2 is $99.99, down from a $149.95 list price. An earlier version of this page called it the “Ember Mug 2 Pro” and priced it at $179 — Ember has never sold anything by that name. Here is the real product, and the one number that decides whether it suits you.

A correction, first
This page previously reviewed an “Ember Mug 2 Pro” at $179. No such product exists. Ember’s mug range is the Ember Mug 2, the Ember Cup (14 oz and 6 oz), the Ember Travel Mug 2, the Ember Tumbler and the Ember Cold Tumbler. There is no Pro model and no Mug 3.
If you have seen a “2+” somewhere, that belongs to a different product: the Ember Travel Mug 2+, a 12 oz stainless steel travel mug with Apple Find My built in. It is a separate category, not an upgrade to this mug.
The number that actually decides it
Eighty minutes. That is how long the 14 oz mug holds temperature off the charging coaster without its lid — 160 minutes with the lid on, and about 90 minutes for the 10 oz version.
This is not a travel mug. It is a desk object that lives on its coaster, where Ember says it will hold temperature all day, sleeping automatically after two hours of inactivity. If you were picturing a mug you carry around a building for a morning, that is the Travel Mug 2, not this one.
What it does

- Charging coaster included; all-day use while it sits on it
- Auto-sleep after 2 hours of inactivity

- Controlled through the Ember app, which is also where you register the warranty
The limitations Ember publishes itself
- Hand wash only. Ember warns that dishwasher heat can damage the internal components, despite the sealed electronics.
- It only heats. It cannot cool a drink — Ember sells a separate Cold Tumbler for that.
- Very short untethered runtime — 80 to 90 minutes. It is effectively a coaster-tethered device.
- One-year limited warranty, covering manufacturing defects, registered through the app. Returns are 30 days on unused mugs.
Where it sits in Ember’s own range
For context, from Ember’s own store on the day we checked: Ember Travel Mug 2 $199.95, Ember Tumbler $109.99 (from $179.95), Ember Cup 14 oz $89.97, Ember Cup 6 oz $59.97, Ember Cold Tumbler $29.99.
At $99.99 against a $149.95 list, the Mug 2 is currently the cheapest way into the heated range apart from the Cup. Whether that discount holds is another matter — treat $149.95 as the price it can revert to.
Who it suits
Someone with a desk, a coaster-sized space on it, and a habit of forgetting a cup of coffee for twenty minutes at a time. That is a real and common problem and this solves it precisely.
Anyone who wants a heated drink away from a power source should look at the Travel Mug 2 instead, and accept that it costs twice as much.
