Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk: It Is Not One Shade, and It Is Not $36
Pillow Talk is $37 for 3.5 g of Matte Revolution lipstick. It is also not a single shade — Charlotte Tilbury sells Pillow Talk and Pillow Talk Medium as separate products, which is the detail that decides whether it works on your skin tone.

- Sold as Pillow Talk and Pillow Talk Medium — two distinct shades
- Matte Revolution range: around 20–21 shades depending on retailer
- Wear claim: up to 10 hours
- Formulated without parabens
The two Pillow Talks
This is the part that matters most and gets mentioned least. The original Pillow Talk is a pale nude-pink. Pillow Talk Medium is deeper and warmer. They are sold as separate products, not as variations of one.
So the recurring question — “does Pillow Talk suit every skin tone?” — has a straightforward answer: the original does not, which is precisely why the Medium exists. Deciding between them is the actual shopping decision.
The price
$37.00 on both charlottetilbury.com and Ulta, or $31.45 on the brand’s 15% Subscribe + Save. This page previously said $36; it has been corrected.

- Lipstick Tree extract, described as conditioning

- An emollient ester blend
- 3D-effect glowing pigments
- Listed as “without parabens”
- Ulta additionally lists orchid extract
Texture and wear claims
Charlotte Tilbury describes a modern-matte finish with a cream texture, and Ulta a “cashmere finish” on a long-lasting, buildable, hydrating formula. The published wear claim is up to 10 hours. The bullet is a contoured square tip, which the brand says makes it easier to apply without a liner.
These are the brand’s and retailer’s descriptions. We have not worn-tested the product and are not going to tell you how it performed over a working day when we did not measure it.
On the shade count
Ulta enumerates 21 shades in the Matte Revolution range; Charlotte Tilbury’s own page shows roughly 20. The brand does not state a single number, so any confident “X shades” claim is not coming from the manufacturer.
Ulta publishes that the product is an Allure Best of Beauty award winner — an award with a named awarding body, which is worth more than an unattributed “award-winning”.
