Which Brooklinen Sheets Are Right for the Way You Sleep?

Some people climb into bed and want the cool, crisp snap of a freshly pressed hotel sheet. Others want something smooth enough to slide across. A third group wants sheets that feel like a favorite linen shirt on a summer weekend. All three are right, and Brooklinen makes a sheet for each of them.

The bedding brand organizes its sheets mainly by weave, and that’s the most useful way to choose. Brooklinen itself argues that thread count is a misleading number on its own, and that fiber quality and weave do far more to decide how a sheet feels. So rather than chasing the biggest figure on the label, start with how you sleep.

Classic Percale, for the crisp-sheet crowd

If you only try one Brooklinen sheet, this is the natural place to start. Brooklinen describes Classic Percale as 100% long-staple cotton with a 270 thread count, a matte finish and a crisp feel, and it recommends the line for warmer sleepers. The brand also notes that these sheets are a Wirecutter favorite.

The secret is the weave. Percale is a one-over-one-under plain weave, which Brooklinen says lets air move freely and helps the fabric hold its shape wash after wash. Picture a warm night with the window cracked. That’s the bed it was made for.

Like the rest of the core range, Classic Percale is OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances.

Luxe Sateen, for anyone who runs cool

Brooklinen’s Luxe Sateen collection carries the label “Hotel Quality Sheets,” and the description fits. It’s also made from 100% long-staple cotton, but woven four-over-one-under, which puts more of the yarn on the surface. The result is a smooth, lustrous fabric with a silky hand, listed on Brooklinen’s product page with a 480 thread count finish and made in Portugal.

Sateen feels a little warmer and cozier than percale, so Brooklinen points it toward cool sleepers and colder months.

If your bedroom runs chilly from October to April, this is the one.

Washed European Linen, for hot nights and the long haul

Linen is a different fiber altogether. Brooklinen’s Washed European Linen sheets are made from 100% certified European flax, garment-washed for a relaxed, lived-in look from the very first night. On its comparison chart, the brand describes the fabric as super airy and relaxed, and it suggests linen for anyone who tends to overheat or lives in a warmer climate.

Brooklinen explains that flax fibers have a hollow structure that draws moisture away from the body, which is why linen stays comfortable through humid summers and big seasonal swings. The brand has also upgraded the fabric weight and tensile strength of its newer linen, aiming for extra durability without giving up softness, and it says well-cared-for linen often lasts 15 to 20 years. The sheets are OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified as well, and Brooklinen notes they’ve been recognized by Architectural Digest.

There’s also something appealing about a bed that looks good unmade. Linen is made for exactly that.

The rest of the lineup

Beyond the big three, Brooklinen offers several more fabrics for specific tastes and seasons, including Organic Cotton, Twill, Flannel for winter and Heathered Cashmere. Each of these also comes as a Hardcore Sheet Bundle, so the buying advice below applies across the board. Owning two weaves is a lovely luxury, too: a percale set for summer and a sateen or flannel set for winter, swapped as the weather turns.

Getting the right set in one order

Once you’ve chosen a weave, the next decision is how much of the bed you want to dress at once, and this is where Brooklinen makes buying easy.

The starting point is the Core Sheet Set, which Brooklinen says includes one fitted sheet, one flat sheet and two pillowcases. For people who never use a top sheet, there’s a No Flat Sheet Set version too.

The fuller option is the Hardcore Sheet Bundle. According to Brooklinen, it combines a Core Sheet Set with a duvet cover and two extra pillowcases, giving you four pillowcases in total and a complete, matching bed in a single purchase. The bundle comes in each of the main fabrics, including Classic Percale, Luxe Sateen and Washed European Linen, and Brooklinen’s bundle page advertises savings compared with buying the pieces separately. Check the current pricing on the site, since bundle discounts vary by fabric and season.

Setting up a new home or a guest room from scratch? Brooklinen also offers Move-In Bundles built for exactly that job.

Before you check out, take a quick look at the size chart for your mattress depth, and browse Brooklinen’s return FAQ, which covers sheets that have already been washed. Then pick the weave that matches the way you sleep, choose the bundle that covers the whole bed, and enjoy the moment the first fresh set goes on.
