Everlane Way-High Jean: There Are Now Two of Them, and They Fit Differently
Everlane sells The Way-High Jean and The Way-High Jean 2.0 side by side. They have different rises, different care labels and very different prices — $148 list for the original against $88 for the 2.0 — so “the Way-High” is no longer one answer.

Which one is $88
The $88 figure applies to the Way-High 2.0 only. The original Way-High lists at $148, with the Vintage Indigo colourway currently discounted to $30. If a page quotes $88 without saying which version, it is describing the 2.0 — including the earlier version of this one.
What Everlane changed in the 2.0
- Rise: 12.25 inches, slightly lower than the original’s 12.5 — still high, but a quarter-inch matters at this rise.
- Waist comfort: Everlane states the waistband was reworked.
- Seat: the saddle shape was adjusted for fit through the seat.
- Length: the 2.0 is intended to hit at the ankle.
- Care: the 2.0 permits non-chlorine bleach and warm ironing; the original’s label says only machine wash cold inside out, tumble dry low.
It is not a rigid jean
Both versions are 98% organic cotton with 2% elastane. The original was marketed within a “Rigid” line historically, which causes confusion — but the composition published today includes stretch on both. Expect give, and expect some bagging at the knee through the day, as with any 2% elastane denim.
Sizing, in inches
Everlane publishes waist measurements from 24 to 41 inches and hip measurements from 34 to 50.75 inches for the 2.0, across sizes 23–35. Three inseams are offered: 25.5 inches cropped, 27.5 regular, 29.5 long.
Because the rises differ between versions, the same numbered size will sit differently on you depending on which jean arrives. Buy the version, not the size.
The manufacturing claims
Everlane publishes that the Vietnamese factory is LEED-certified and recycles up to 98% of its water, and claims an 80% reduction in CO2 emissions through renewable energy and air drying. It states 98% of its washes score low to medium on environmental impact, uses certified organic cotton, and third-party tests for durability and colourfastness.
These are the brand’s own published figures. We have not seen the underlying assessments.
